Statement of Expectations for THE Board of Directors

1.      Commit to the mission and goals of CSCA. The mission of CSCA is to cultivate lifelong creativity and advocate for broad and diverse community engagement in quality arts programming by providing a safe, accessible place to artists, organizations, and students.

2.      Attend meetings of the Board of Directors. Six (6) meetings are scheduled each year.  Board members are encouraged to attend all six meetings. The minimum attendance expected of each Board member is 66%.

3.      When applicable, serve on at least one committee and attend committee meetings. Board members are encouraged to participate in all meetings of the committees on which they serve.  However, a minimum of 50% attendance at meetings is expected.

4.      Prepare for meetings in advance. CSCA commits to sending materials in advance; board members commit to reading and considering them before meetings.

5.      Contribute expertise and participate in the strategic development of the board and organization.

6.      Attend and support CSCA’s benefits, special events, and donor cultivation events, as able.

7.      Make a personal contribution to CSCA on an annual basis, in addition to in-kind donations of time and resources. The recommended amount for each board member is at least $150. CSCA recognizes that each person’s financial circumstances vary and will work with each board member to help them make a personally significant contribution.

8.      Develop funding support. Assist CSCA’s board and staff in its fund development efforts by arranging introductions, signing letters to friends and associates, and otherwise opening doors to funding sources.  Each board member affiliated with a business is asked to seek organizational sponsorship at the highest possible level.

9.      Represent CSCA. Board members must be familiar with and speak in support of CSCA and allow their names to be used in support of its mission. All CSCA board members are asked to attend at least one CSCA arts program each year.

10. Disclose any potential conflict of interest with CSCA and refrain from discussions and/or votes when a conflict of interest arises.

11. Refrain from discussing or sharing confidential board business with non-board members.
