Statement of Expectations for THE Board of Directors
Commit to the mission and goals of Creative Spaces Cultural Arts (CSCA).
Make CSCA a priority in the Board members’ nonprofit activity.
Contribute expertise and participate in the strategic development of the Board and organization: CSCA will assist by providing information about issues in the field and opportunities for professional development as a Board member.
Attend meetings of the Board of Directors: Board meetings occur monthly and are scheduled annually, a year in advance. Board members are expected to attend and participate in 3/4 of all meetings.
Serve on at least one committee and attend committee meetings: Board members are encouraged to attend and participate in all meetings of the committees on which they serve.
Make a personal contribution to CSCA: Every Board member is expected to make a personally significant financial contribution annually, in addition to in-kind contributions of time and resources. The expectation for each Board member is at least $150. CSCA recognizes that each person’s financial circumstances vary and will work with each Board member to assist them in making a personally significant contribution.
Ensure adequate resources: Meet annually with a CSCA Managing Director or Board Chair to identify personal fundraising goals and activities. Assist the CSCA Board in fundraising efforts by arranging introductions, signing letters to friends and associates, and otherwise opening doors to funding sources. Each Board member affiliated with a business is asked to seek organizational support at the highest possible level of sponsorship.
Prepare for meetings in advance: CSCA commits to sending related materials and financial reports in advance, and board members commit to reading and considering materials in advance.
Attend and support CSCA benefits, special events, and donor cultivation events.
Represent CSCA: Be familiar with and speak in support of CSCA and allow their name to be used in support of CSCA’s mission. All CSCA Board members are asked to attend at least one CSCA arts program each year to gain insight into the importance of CSCA’s mission.
Disclose any potential conflict of interest with CSCA and refrain from discussions and/or votes when a conflict of interest exists.
Refrain from discussing or sharing confidential Board business with non-Board members.
